Which Tools Are More Effective in the MVP Development Process for Startups? Figma or InVision?

The tools used in the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) development process can directly impact the success of startups. Figma and InVision are two popular tools that stand out in this process. Determining which tool is more effective depends on your project's needs. In this article, we will examine the advantages and disadvantages of both tools and the situations in which they should be preferred.

What is MVP and Why is it Important?

A Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is the most basic version of a product that includes only the necessary features. The MVP is a critical step for gathering user feedback, understanding market needs, and determining the direction of the product. MVPs, which need to be developed quickly to attract investors' attention and measure market response, are a fundamental element for the success of startups.

Overview of Figma and InVision

Figma is a cloud-based design tool that allows teams to collaborate in real-time. InVision, on the other hand, focuses on prototyping and user testing processes. Both tools have their unique advantages and disadvantages.

Key Differences Between Figma and InVision

Collaboration and Real-Time Editing

Figma allows users to work on the same file simultaneously, while this feature is limited in InVision. This significantly enhances collaboration, especially in larger teams.

Prototyping Capabilities

Figma enables users to create interactive prototypes, while InVision offers more prototyping features. However, InVision requires more steps to collect user feedback.

Cost Analysis

By 2026, Figma's market share is expected to reach 50%. This indicates that Figma's pricing model is more suitable for startups. InVision generally has higher costs, which can be a barrier for many startups.

Real Example: Experience of Company X

Advantages of Using Figma

Company X chose Figma to develop a new social media application. This choice allowed team members to work on the design in real-time. Thanks to the collaboration features offered by Figma, the design process was completed 30% faster.

Prototyping Test with InVision

Company X turned the designs created with Figma into prototypes in InVision. During user testing, they quickly gathered user feedback thanks to InVision's prototyping capabilities. However, users noted that the level of interactivity in the prototype was lower compared to Figma; 65% of InVision users expressed that their prototypes were less interactive than those created in Figma.

Common Mistakes

Considerations When Choosing a Tool

1. Team Size: Larger teams can benefit from Figma's collaboration features.
2. Project Budget: Figma is generally more cost-effective.
3. Prototyping Needs: InVision may be a better option for user testing.

Pitfalls to Avoid in the Prototyping Test Process

1. Insufficient Feedback: Don't rush to collect user feedback.
2. Low Interactivity: Ensure that prototypes are sufficiently interactive.
3. Lack of Team Communication: Don't forget to enhance communication during the design process.

A Point Most Teams Miss: Figma's Collaboration Advantages

Real-Time Feedback

Figma allows team members to receive instant feedback during the design process. This facilitates faster project progression.

Team Communication

Figma enhances team communication, enabling more effective collaboration at every stage of the design process. This is a critical advantage, especially in large projects.

Summary in 30 Seconds

• Advantages of Figma: Real-time collaboration, low cost, and fast design process.
• Role of InVision in Prototyping Tests: Strong points in gathering user feedback and testing.
• Cost and Efficiency: Figma generally offers a more cost-effective solution.
